in which i complain about professors and politics.

**WARNING** This blog post WILL contain a rant about Barack Obama and professors at my school. If this bothers you, go read something else, because I don't really care.

So, a couple of things have really irked me today. And by irked I mean they might have made me say the F-word a few times. It's just been one of those weeks.

Firstly, I have been dealing with a really annoying situation involving a lot of money at school. I have made EVERY attempt to deal with it both professionally and responsibly, while maintaining a polite air.

Unfortunately, the very same teachers that PREACH constant professionalism to me are apparently UNWILLING to extend me the same courtesies. In my attempts to rectify this situation, the 3 different professors have DELIBERATELY and PURPOSEFULLY ignored my emails, phone calls and messages, AND attempts at a face to face meeting.

How in the world can a group of PROFESSIONAL ADULTS handle a situation so POORLY. It's ridiculous and disgraceful, and honestly, I have lost all of my respect for all of them. I received a response email to one I sent Monday afternoon REQUESTING IMMEDIATE ACTION because I am leaving campus for 2 months for a clinical rotation. It was sent at 1:30pm, which sent me into a tizzy trying to get BACK to campus and deal with what I had to before 5pm. It's pissed me off and those teachers are pretty much dead to me. Thanks a lot for all your help and quick feedback! NOT!!! BITCHES.

Anywhoo, moving on... I'm sure you've all heard that President Obama has ridiculously been named the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize for......oh right, NOTHING.

I am completely ashamed that he would accept an award that is so OBVIOUSLY UNDESERVED and ridiculous. The committee chose him for this award Feb. 1, 2009, which was 11 FREAKING DAYS after he took office on Jan. 20, 2009. What could this moron have done in 11 days to deserve one of the (previously) most prestigious awards in the world. ABSO-FRICKING-LUTELY NOTHING.

(Obviously I am very heated up about this, so I apologize.)

Summing up my opinion nicely is FoxNews:

And Michael Steele, chairman of the Republican Party, said Obama won the prize because of his "star power," rather than meaningful accomplishments. "The real question Americans are asking is, What has President Obama actually accomplished?" Steele said in a statement. Steele, who took over the reins of the GOP earlier this year, said he thought it was "unfortunate that the president's 'star power' has outshined tireless advocates who have made real achievements working towards peace and human rights." He said he doesn't think Obama will be "receiving any awards from Americans for job creation, fiscal responsibility, or backing up rhetoric with concrete action."

In his 1895 will, Alfred Nobel stipulated that the peace prize should go "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations and the abolition or reduction of standing armies and the formation and spreading of peace congresses."

And if you think that Barack Obama (America's biggest mistake) is the person to fit that bill, then you are FULL OF SHIT.

[End of rampage.]

physical therapists versus terrorists.

This morning at church, my pastor began his sermon as normal. But he quickly digressed to a story about why his arm is in a sling...

He recently tore ligaments in his shoulder and had surgery 10 days ago and began physical therapy treatments this week.

Anyways, he's standing at the pulpit in front of the entire congregation and says:

"You know, this week I figured out how to tell the difference between physical therapists and terrorists...you can ALWAYS negotiate with terrorists!"

Ba-dum-ching!

Happy Beatles Day!

Since March, when it was first officially announced, I have been giddily anticipating 09-09-09 because of the release of this:

Apple is also releasing the entire Beatles catalog in a new, remastered and fantastic format. Paul McCartney said "It's like being in the studio with us when we recorded it!" Sign me up!

It seems the whole world has gone Beatles crazy again! Radio stations are playing the remasters constantly! I'm in a Beatle-filled heaven! I love it!

So I'm spending this wonderful day filled with peace, love and the Beatles, by listening to the catalog while I do homework (and hope that one of my friends calls me and invites me over to play Beatles Rockband!)

Here's to the greatest/most influential band of all time! Long live the Beatles!

into the wild blue yonder.

This weekend, while visiting College Station, I let my loving boyfriend convince me to go flying in a small 4 seater prop plane. Piloted by his best friend, who is a licensed pilot with 1+ years experience.

I would have been much less apprehensive had it not been for a few minor things:
  1. I had only met said pilot the previous day.
  2. Said pilot, while being unbelieveably nice (and jolly), is not only younger, but much funnier than me.
  3. The plane was smaller than a Ford Focus.
  4. The plane's fuel sensors wouldn't read accurately and prior to take off, continually said that our right wing did not have any fuel.
  5. The pilot "fixed" this gage issue by shaking and kicking the wing of the plane. He claimed this was the "Russian fix". He was indeed Russian.

Ummmm....I'm about to die in a private plane crash. AND I don't have my driver's license or any other form of ID on me. They'll have to identify my charred remains by my dental records. AAAAAND oh my gosh, what pair of underwear am I wearing?!?!

Well, needless to say, I didn't die and I didn't vomit (which was an achievement because it was so hot in that little plane). It was quite an experience. My job was to watch out for birds and other planes in the air.

Really all I did was say things like "Roger, pilot. We are go for manuever oh-niner-niner. 10-4." into the headset.

That's enough to call me co-pilot, though (even from the backseat!)

Our pilot, Anton, who kept singing Cher's "Do you believe?" over the headseats and Trace, the actual non-licensed, terribly afraid of heights co-pilot.

Me in the backseat pretending to be important, but actually taking pictures and trying not to be sick.
