stream of conciousness...

the random thoughts that are bouncing around in my brain:

  • i can't wait to be done studying for the boards. hopefully culminating in a PASS!
  • i am anxious/nervous/excited/terrified about moving to Chicago, which is coming up fast
  • i am excited i get to see Trace 3 weekends in a row before my move (this is unheard of for us!)
  • i CANNOT WAIT for my new iPhone4 to get here. I ordered it 1 FREAKING DAY after the pre-sales started and won't get it until July 14 at the earliest. Stupid apple website wouldn't let me through on the first day!
  • i am currently in the process of purging my whole life. this has already yielded 5 crammed trash bags of trash and 2 trunk loads of stuff to goodwill. we were going to have a garage sale, but its a lot of work, its hot, i hate giving my nice things to mexicans for 25cents and my dad is afraid we will get robbed. so i just donated it instead and feel GREAT about it! still have a lot of work to do though...
  • i still don't have a job. I am unemployed. in order to keep my spirits up, i have commenced referring to this as the "FUNEMPLOYMENT" period of my life. sounds better, yeah?

the end.

So, I mistakenly made the decision to do p90x because Trace had the dvd's and i needed something to do at home to kick my rear into gear to get ready for my trip to Hawaii in May.

I made it through approximately 19.2 minutes of the first 57 minute workout and collapsed on the floor. Those workout actors are doing exercises that I didn't even know were physically possible. Ands I'm a freaking PHYSICAL THERAPIST. Exercises are my specialty!

Geeze louise. Now i'm incredibly discouraged and still fat/out of shape, which makes me even more upset. I simply don't have the time right now in my life to flit to the gym everyday, so WHAT TO DOOOOOOO???

Maybe I should at least finish one whole workout before i decide to kill myself. Then I'll sleep well tonight.

this weekend, i was able to learn a lot more about the epic battle between physical therapists and chiropractors.

basically, the extent of it is:
  • chiropractors are dangerous.
  • chiropractors aren't doctors (even if they say they are)
  • chiropractors aren't educated enough to know when techniques are safe/unsafe
  • chiropractic is based completely on unscientific "beliefs"
  • don't let a chiropractor touch your neck (even if they say it will help)

it's pretty shocking what they get away with. to learn more, go to and be sure to ask your PRIMARY CARE PROVIDER (aka--- A MEDICAL DOCTOR) about the risks of going to a chiro.

once upon a time...

Once upon a time there was a girl named Katie who created a blog and used to be very good at updating regularly.

Then, the real world happened and Katie was forced to pay attention to her school work, her clinical rotations, and her future.

She spent 8 full weeks in a PT clinic, then had a 6 week vacation in which she worked at a jewelry store, spent time with her boyfriend, and went on an incredible ski vacation with her best friends to Utah.

Now the real world has started again and this poor girl has no choice but to do school work, study for her licensure exam and spend hours fretting about life and her future in general. Hopefully so she can get a good job in a cool place (:) ?!?!?!) and live happily ever after.

Ski trip post to come soon!

november was hard.

I apologize for my lack of presence around here, November was a hard month.

In addition to working 55+ hours a week at my clinical site and James Avery, 2 of my grandparents passed away within 3 weeks of each other.

I lost my paternal great-grandmother (Grandma VoVo) the first week of the month...4 days after her 102nd birthday.

Then last week, my maternal grandfather (Papa) lost his lengthy battle with Parkinson's.

Needless to say, it was a month full of little sleep, lots of kids, silver jewelry, and funerals. Also needless to say, I am ready for December to kick start my severely lacking Christmas cheer.

But on the bright side of things, there is only 2 school days left until a glorious 5 week vacation, 12 days until Trace comes home and only 1 month until SKI TRIP 2010!!!
